Good-bye Bangalore

All good things must come to an end. So did my life as a software engineer. This Monday was my last day with my last (2nd) employer - Pivotal. It brought to an end 3 years of my association with them. Strange it is that the human soul craves for money, for I was frustrated that I didn't have any chance to substantiate my salary in Pivotal. My experiences with this employer can at best be described as a mixed bag. I left Bangalore on Tuesday night, after a stay of 5.5 years. But then, with the end of every journey begins another and I look forward to the year I'll be spending at ISB. That should be thrilling - back to school!

When I first went to Bangalore to join my first employment which I bagged in campus, Rajkumar was kidnapped. There was total chaos and we ended-up having no food thanks to all the shopkeepers who downed their shutters for 3 days straight. Hours after I reached Chennai from Bangalore, I heard about the sad demise of Rajkumar. That Rajkumar enjoyed a cult status in Karnataka would be an understatement. The public response after he entered the Gokak movement, the response of his supporters soon after his kidnapping by the forest brigand and the scenes of thousands wailing at his mortal remains will stand as testimony to that. One side I was sad, for Karnataka lost one of its super-stars. On the other side, I was happy that I started from Bangalore a day earlier. The last thing I'd have wanted in Bangalore was to be holed-up with my parents there minus food, transportation and security.

Meanwhile, in Chennai, am trying to catch-up with as many friends as possible. The sun is setting the city ablaze and I just have two days here. I’m starting for Hyd on the 14th of April. I think my next blog will be from ISB!
